Delphi and C++Builder Annual Surveys Reminder

If you haven't already completed our annual Delphi or C++Builder surveys in the past month, please do it now.

We survey the Delphi and C++Builder communities every year or so to learn about the users of our tools, what they like about them, what they want to see in future versions, and how different technologies are trending.

If you're a Delphi or C++Builder user, past or current, we encourage you to take the surveys and thank you in advance for your time and feedback.

The 2010 versions of the Delphi and C++Builder surveys are available at:
  • Delphi Survey -
  • C++Builder Survey -

The surveys are conducted by Embarcadero Product Management for Delphi and C++Builder. The responses are extremely important to us and help to shape the vision and future of the product.

The surveys are long but again the information we gain from the answers is very valuable, so we encourage you to complete the entire survey.

Please pass this information on to anybody you think would be interested.

Giving thanks to all Delphi users on Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving in the US, a day we give thanks for the things that are important to us. I'd like to thank all the Delphi, Delphi Prism, C++Builder and Embarcadero RAD Studio users for their continued support and great feedback on our products. We're glad we can provide tools that help you get your work done faster and help you produce great software.

Here are just a few of the recent great comments our community has shared with us about Delphi, C++Builder and RAD Studio:

"The enhanced RTTI and Attributes has allowed me to build dynamic reusable libraries to solve real world problems. I am sure it has saved us 100s of hours of time."
- Robert Love, DWS/DTS - CATS Team Supervisor, Utah State Government

"Delphi 2010 is the enjoyable sweet mix of a fast, stable and responsive IDE, superfast compiler, latest operating system API support, fine language enhancements such as RTTI extensions and attributes, debugger with many new capabilities and great new IDE features like IDE Insight and Delphi code formatter. After one week of intensive use of the final release now, it's clear how much attention to detail and quality Embarcadero's Delphi team put into the product. When all this comes with an unparalleled backwards compatibility for a software development product, there is only one conclusion: do yourself a favor, get Delphi 2010 and enjoy your new shiny secret weapon."
- Bruno Fierens, CEO, TMS Software

"It's easy. It's fast. It's delicious using it. Delphi 2010 is addictive to use. You guys at Embarcadero can say without fear, 'this is the best Delphi ever made.' It's pure joy. Delphi 2010 is even more responsive than the last Delphi I used (2006) and has a dbExpress Driver for Firebird which works. Delphi 2010’s IDE Insight feature is one of those things you say "how nobody thought of this before???". It's cool!”
- Fabricio Pontes de Araujo, Systems Analyst and Programmer, IBS - Info Business Solutions

"Speed optimization is essential for near-real time monitoring. Only C++Builder gave me the performances I need for such a monitoring context. C++Builder produced the fastest execution time of all other development tools I tried."
- Steve Jordi, Tiltsoft

"C++Builder makes GUI design very simple, allowing you to concentrate your time on the business end of the application. Existing C++ code and libraries can be used along with a wealth of Delphi/VCL components."
- Stephen Craig, Cubic Software

"The IDE and VCL allow us to produce the best UI in our industry. Integration with unit test tools has allowed us to produce higher quality code faster too. Couple these with database and XML support and we are able to produce full featured applications faster."
- Phyllis Lang - Knightware

"C++Builder is versatile and easy to use."
- Bruce Larrabee, Westbrook Enterprise LLC

DBArtisan for SQL Azure Free Download

Embarcadero recently announced DBArtisan, a really useful database administration tool for SQL Azure.

You can get a free download of DBArtisan for SQL Azure here.

Embarcadero DBArtisan for SQL Azure enables organizations to more quickly deploy cloud applications and transfer data to the SQL Azure infrastructure. DBArtisan makes it easier to build both on-premise and cloud-based SQL Azure Database deployments. DBArtisan’s schema extraction and migration facilities provide seamless synchronization of data between a SQL Server database and SQL Azure. This combination of databases on and off premises help organizations reduce in-house IT infrastructure costs and increase availability of certain data sets to offsite consumers.

Why Use DBArtisan?

SQL Azure is a natural choice for enterprise cloud implementations and especially for enterprises already using SQL Server. SQL Server users can leverage their existing knowledge in T-SQL development and a familiar relational data model to achieve symmetry between SQL Azure and existing on-premises databases. DBArtisan’s schema extraction and migration let developers quickly migrate the existing SQL Server database schema to SQL Azure.

Delphi 2010 hands on review from TechRepublic

Here's a nice review of Delphi 2010 from TechRepublic

A developer's hands-on review of Delphi 2010
Justin James

"If you want to do Windows development, and you want to work with native code in a native style, I think that Delphi 2010 is a very productive tool. It combines a lot that really saves time (such as DataSnap and IDE Insight) with the power and flexibility of native code. If you need support for certain functionality (especially touch-related items), it is the only shipping product on the market that does these things.

Every time I work with the Embarcadero team, I feel like they are writing the tools that they would love to use; they really are “developers’ developers,” and they understand the development process very well and implement it as tools quite nicely."
